Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and bronchiectasis are two obstructive airway diseases which have some similar clinical features, pathogenetic mechanisms and spirometer findings. Bronchiectasis is one of the comorbidities in COPD, mostly seen in moderate and severe stages. It has been shown that bronchiectasis accompanying with COPD is associated with a poorer prognosis and increased mortality. Therefore the diagnosis and efficient treatment of bronchiectasis in COPD patients are essential for optimal COPD patient management.
